The Gubbe's originated from Prussia. There are two Gubbe's listed on the rolls of Dramburg in 1599.  I have been doing quite a bit of research regarding the time line of Prussia and when the first Gubbe's immigrated to the United States. Prussia as known in the 18th and 19th centuries is now part of Poland. It was officially dissolved after WWII.

The below listed wars had a significant impact on the Prussian people and created a huge exodus from Prussia to the U.S., Australia and Canada.

Prussia was formed in the 1500's by the Tuetonic Knights. The last surviving Knight was a Hohenzollern who was the forefather of Friedrich Wilheim III the first King of Prussia (1770-1830)
